 Liberals spending like an election is just around the corner
 Cash splash doesn’t mask underfunding of essential services
 Is the Premier again willing to confirm a March ’18 election?

The Liberal Government’s pre-Budget spend-a-thon does not mask three years of inaction and underfunding of essential services.

Deputy Labor Leader Michelle O’Byrne said everything points to an early election.

“The Liberals are splashing cash to try and hide from the fact they’ve sat on their hands for three years and failed to properly invest in essential services,” Ms O’Byrne said.

“It’s obvious they’ve given up on governing and have transitioned into election mode.

“Is the Premier still willing to commit to a March 2018 election? Because everything is pointing to an early poll.

“After years of bragging about being fiscally prudent, the Treasurer is now on a spending spree to shore up votes.

“Tasmanians who have been let down by the Government’s lack of commitment to health, education and infrastructure investment, won’t be fooled by this cash splash.

“Next week’s Budget will reveal if the Government is serious about undoing the damage done by its cuts or simply positioning itself for an election campaign.”
