Forest Bill Passes Second Reading

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to working to unlock productive forests to save jobs and end the public subsidies in the forest industry.
Last night’s vote of the Legislative Council allowing our Forestry (Unlocking Production Forests) Bill to proceed to the committee stage is welcome.
The vote is a step forward and demonstrates that contrary to the loud noises of Labor and the Greens, this is a policy that clearly has support.
I thank Legislative Councillors who have supported the Bill to pass the Second Reading.
With the vote being tied at six all, the fate of this Bill now rests in Labor’s hands.
Will the inexperienced Rebecca White respect the will of the people at the last election and support the Bill on the Third Reading or will she vote to continue the Labor-Green deal?

Guy Barnett, Minister for Resources
