PARKRUN is an Australian Government initiative to launch National campaign Girls Make Your Move- an eight-week program designed to empower young women to be more active in their lives, push past barriers and generate positive perceptions of physical activity. Get Physical- it’s Free! This running program will take place every Saturday morning to encourage girls to socialise, beat their personal best and get moving!
PARKRUN Event Organiser Scott Trickett ‘Steph and Laura are the perfect ambassadors for the event as they demonstrate ‘range’ when it comes to fitness.’ Laura prefers to minimise slow-paced workouts like Pilates; ‘I try to do Pilates but I should do more. I do one Pilates class a week and I work out six days a week,’ she says. In contrast Stephanie ‘works out five to six times a week and usually my sixth day would be just a power walk or something like that,’ she says. Together, the girls illustrate that physical activity is beneficial in all forms, just as long as you ‘move.
Start off your Saturday the right way and get active! Parkrun is being launched simultaneously across in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth. Get Set, GO!
