 Right To Information shows State Growth has no modelling
 Government needs to tell the truth and release modelling – if it exists
The Hodgman Liberal Government needs to finally be honest with Tasmanians by publicly releasing any legitimate economic modelling it has prepared to back up its unnecessary attack on TasWater.
Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon said a Right To Information response released by the government shows the Department of State Growth has not carried any modelling on the proposed TasWater takeover over the past two years.
“If any modelling exists – as the government and Sarah Courtney last week said it does – it needs to be released so Tasmanians can be assured Peter Gutwein has any shred of support for his misguided plan,” Mr Bacon said.
“The government has admitted there is absolutely nothing to release.
“There has been nothing prepared on Mr Gutwein’s alternative ownership model, there has been no modelling around changes to billing processes for customers.
“Importantly, there has been no modelling prepared for the completion timeframes of crucial water and sewerage projects in Tasmania.
“The government claims it will be able to save households $550.
“If that’s true, it should be reflected in modelling and research and if Mr Gutwein is so confident that his claims are correct, he should be willing to share with Tasmanians how he is able to reach that conclusion.”
