The State Government recently committed to the acquisition of public land on kunanyi / Mt Wellington to assist the cable car proponent.
Carlton United Breweries (CUB) own more than half of the land that the developer needs and this is not being acquired. A cable car over the organ pipes is only possible with the support of the CUB who own the Cascade Brewery. Cascade Road is also the site where the proponent is planning a multistorey car park.
CUB will be meeting with the cable car developers this month. The proponent has previously stated that “public opposition is virtually non existent”.
This is your chance to correct the record.
