 Dominant performance from Tasmania the Australian Tourism Awards in Darwin
 Five gold winners judged the best in the nation
 Labor will always back tourism and invest in regional infrastructure

Tasmania’s tourism sector continues to flourish with another impressive night on the national stage.

Shadow Tourism Minister Scott Bacon has congratulated the industry on a fine performance at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Darwin.

“Tasmanians should be so proud of the way our state is viewed in the eyes of travellers,” Mr Bacon said.

“We’ve gone from a place that punched above its weight to a genuine tourism powerhouse.

“All praise must go to the hard working people in the industry who get up every day and make sure Tasmania is seen in the best possible light.

“All of this year’s winners should be enormously proud of their individual success but it’s the whole tourism sector that’s firing.

“Labor’s proud of the role we played in making sure attractions like the stunning Three Capes Track became a reality.

“Labor will always back tourism and in government we’d invest heavily in regional infrastructure so the sector can continue to flourish and expand.

“Our $50 million infrastructure commitment will underpin growth and allow for the next batch of national award winners to step forward.”
