Tim Burns has lived in rural Tasmania for the past 25 years. His paintings are influenced by his observations of and immersion in the landscape; they are a distillation of his experiences. He views Nature as a metaphoric source, suggestive of his emotional/physiological self. His approach to painting is founded on his study of 19th century Scandinavian painting,Japanese aesthetics, and the concept of Abstraction. l
Widely exhibited throughout Australia, Burns is represented in public collections nationally, including the National Gallery of Australia and all state galleries in Australia. His CV recordsasubstantial record of prizes, grants, scholarships and commissions including winning the Fleurieu Art Prize in 2008.
