Business confidence down 14 points according to latest Sensis results
Regional Tasmania severely lacking confidence
Government ignoring huge shift from full-time to part-time employment
The Liberal Government can no longer deny the dramatic collapse in business confidence, particularly in regional Tasmania.
“The latest Sensis Business Index shows business confidence is now below the national average,” Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon said.
“This is being driven by a 24 point slump in confidence in regional Tasmania.
“While things might be going ok in Hobart, Labor knows regional Tasmania is feeling left behind. That is why is why we have been calling for investment in regional infrastructure and promoting policies to grow agriculture and mining.
“No doubt the Liberals will try to put a positive spin on these figures but while ever they try to deny reality Tasmanians will get left behind.
“The reduction is confidence comes as we see a massive shift from full-time to part-time employment in Tasmania.
“4700 full-time jobs have disappeared since April last year and the Government has failed to address the trend.”
