 Draft energy report more than a month overdue
 Government treating stakeholders with contempt by waiting until Christmas
 Groom desperate to avoid scrutiny

Energy Minister Matthew Groom needs to explain why the Government is sitting on the draft report from the Tasmanian Energy Security Taskforce.

Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon said the report should have been with the Government a month ago.

“In May, Matthew Groom promised a draft report within six months,” Mr Bacon said.

“The fact the Government is waiting until the middle of Christmas to release the report treats stakeholders and the community with contempt.

“Energy security is critical for Tasmania and the Government can’t use this report as a political stocking filler.

“It’s clear the Minister is deliberately holding up the release of the report to avoid scrutiny over his personal role in the energy crisis.

“Time and time again we’ve seen this government release important information at a time aimed at avoiding media scrutiny.

“Energy users, including our major industrial businesses, deserve better.”
