Pay rise by Christmas for 10,000 public servants

Posted on

The Government, the CPSU and HACSU have reached in-principle agreement for a new wage agreement covering around 10,000 public servants.
This means that 10,000 public servants are on the cusp of receiving a two per cent pay rise by Christmas.
The in-principle agreement is consistent with the Government’s wages policy, which means it will not only deliver real benefits for public servants, it will also help to balance the budget. It also allows the Government to continue investing more back into vital frontline services that the community relies on. That’s a win-win for everyone.
Consistent with previous agreements, the in-principle agreement also contains a safety net for lower paid workers.
The in-principle agreement also includes:
• An additional two weeks’ maternity leave;
• Ten days per annum of family violence leave;
• Five days paid partner leave for the birth of a child or adoption; and
• An increase in the loading for some staff who work shifts in our hospitals, including orderlies.
This offer is fair, affordable and a good deal for workers and the broader community
