I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Jacobi as Tasmania’s new Parks and Wildlife Service General Manager.
Mr Jacobi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, having worked extensively in park management operations and World Heritage areas across Queensland for almost two decades.
Mr Jacobi has also led the Strategy and Policy division in Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and directed several departmental portfolios in the fields of conservation planning, wildlife management, indigenous engagement and outdoor recreation.
Mr Jacobi was selected after a nation-wide search for the position, recognising his strong practical and policy experience, his experience with tourism operations in protected areas and management of World Heritage listed and nationally significant protected areas.
On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I congratulate him on his appointment.
I would like to thank Acting Parks and Wildlife Service General Manager Andrew Roberts for his valued contribution to the leadership of the Parks and Wildlife Service in Tasmania.
Mr Jacobi will take up the General Manager position on 9 January 2017 and has been appointed to the role for a term of five years.
