LOUD MOUTH THEATRE COMPANY PRESENT

THE BULL, THE MOON AND THE CORONET OF STARS

BACKSPACE THEATRE

NOVEMBER 23 – DECEMBER 3

A play about heartbreak and redemption with all the sex, cupcakes and minotaurs you could want…

Written by Van Badham
Directed by Maeve Mhairi MacGregor
Assistant Director Melissa King
With Robert Maxwell and Katie Robertson (FROM ABC TV’S ROSEHAVEN)

While whispers of monsters and strange night time occurrences grow at the Ashmoleon Museum, Marion puts on the Blue Dress and gets lost in the dark, and in Michael, the charming (and married) publications officer.

Her penitence takes her to a seaside resort in Wales, as the art teacher to a posse of sexed-up septuagenarians, and as something of a puzzle to Mark: the resident Australian sommelier.

“The play brought me such incredible catharthis: it made me feel beautiful, loved, hopeful, godlike, sexy, and joyous again. I could have just left it at that, I suppose, but from having that experience myself several reasons emerged for me as to why I wanted to direct and then program the work.” – Maeve Mhairi MacGregor

“For anyone who has ever felt heartbroken, or abandoned, has doubted themselves after a break up, or a loss, or a failure, who has lost sight of what’s worshipable in themselves, hasn’t been able to imagine a time when the grief will stop. But it will. It’ll be okay. You’re beautiful, loved, godlike, sexy: if you don’t know it now, you’ll know it in the theatre with us.” – Director Maeve Mhairi MacGregor

Playwright Van Badham is a theatre-maker and novelist, occasional broadcaster, critic and feminist. She is vice-president of the MEAA, Victoria. She writes columns for the Guardian and lives in Melbourne.

“Badham’s text is breathtaking – poetic, beautiful, captivating.” – Dee Jefferson, TimeOut Sydney
