Volunteering Tasmania’s board announced today that CEO, Ms Adrienne Picone, has resigned to take a position as the CEO of Volunteering Australia, the national peak body for volunteering.
Her last day with Volunteering Tasmania will be the 23rd December.
“The last eight years have been some of the most rewarding of my professional life. Volunteering Tasmania is a great organisation and I have been very proud to be at the helm of an organisation that is helping volunteering to flourish. I have met so many wonderful and inspiring people all doing their bit to make a difference to our community. The VT staff team are an outstanding group of individuals and I am very proud of our achievements,” Ms Picone said.
Adrienne has been in her current role for nearly eight years and has led the organisation through substantial change and growth, and as a result VT is poised to successfully continue its important role as the peak body for volunteering. Volunteering is strong in Tasmania with 4 in 5 people giving time to the community.
Deputy Chair, Donald Coventry said that “Although the board was saddened by the loss of Ms Picone given her strong working relationship with the board, staff, and stakeholders and her commitment to and development of volunteering in Tasmania and Volunteering Tasmania as a peak body, we recognise this new role for her is a significant opportunity. She has seen the organisation through change and leaves it in good shape to develop further. Her immanent commencement with Volunteering Australia will build further knowledge of Tasmania’s strong volunteer activity at the national level.”
The board has commenced the recruitment process and will announce Ms Picone’s replacement as soon as practical.
“We will be conducting a comprehensive recruitment search to secure the best candidate to ensure a smooth and successful transition and to see Volunteering Tasmania further develop,” Mr Coventry said.
“I am very grateful to the VT Board, both past and present who are dedicated to the cause and have been a great support to me and the work of the organisation. I will miss everyone at VT, our members and stakeholders but I am pleased to remaining as part of the VT extended family,” Ms Picone added.
