On Saturday 22nd October, we will join with people around Australia as they come together to say welcome to people who have chosen to make Australia their home.
Walk Together 2016 will be a huge celebration of diversity and a loud declaration that thousands of Australians believe we can become a nation known for our compassion, generosity and welcome. Faced with increasing instances of fear and prejudice, it’s more important than ever for values of compassion and welcome to reign.
We will meet in Prince’s Square at 10:45 to begin our walk at 11:00. We will then walk to Royal Park where we will hear people sing, tell stories, create artwork and share other creative talents with us to create an atmosphere of celebration as we say welcome to people who have become a part of our Launceston community. If you would like to contribute to the entertainment in some way, then please get in touch.
I’ve attached a poster for the event which we’d love you to display to encourage others to join us. I’ve also attached a welcome sign you could bring. We won’t be walking with banners or large signs for safety reasons, but can carry A4 size messages. We would love you to make your own messages of welcome.

We look forward to seeing you at Walk Together 2016.
