AND ONE OF ONLY FOUR MEMBERS TO VOTE AGAINST OMNIBUS BILL
The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, gave two speeches in Parliament today.
He spoke about his concerns with fish farming expansion and called for a moratorium on further developments until more research is undertaken and an effective regulatory framework is put in place. The speech and a draft transcript can be viewed at http://andrewwilkie.org/speech-on-fish-farming/.
Mr Wilkie also voiced his opposition to the Coalition and Labor’s deal on the Budget Savings (Omnibus) Bill 2016. He was one of only four Members of the House of Representatives to vote against the bill. The speech and a draft transcript can be viewed at http://andrewwilkie.org/speech-on-omnibus-bill/.
Of particular significance was the revelation during debate on the Omnibus Bill that the $800m funding to be restored to the Australian Renewable Energy Agency would be found by raiding the Clean Energy Innovation Fund. Mr Wilkie’s contribution to this matter can be viewed at http://andrewwilkie.org/speech-on-omnibus-bill-amendments/.
