Having just reached Number 4 on the ARIA charts, Montaigne has announced a Hobart show as part of her debut album national tour.
Montaigne’s Hobart show is supporting I’ME, a non-for-profit organisation that aims to enhance the wellbeing of young people through innovative educational programs.
Montaigne, aka Jess Cerro is excited to be coming to Tassie for the first time and to be supporting such a worthwhile cause “I feel very privileged to be able to play in support of I’ME. I think the purpose is noble and the methods are valuable. I think mindfulness and meditation are crucial to the development of the modern person, and especially for teens who experience so many internal and external vicissitudes.” “Being able to manage your emotions and hence be able to treat both yourself and others with respect and kindness is very, very important, and makes doing both what you have to and want to do all the more pleasurable! I’m all for it.”
I’ME founding Director Grant Milbourne says he is thrilled to have Montaigne supporting I’ME and youth mental health through this event.
“Having Montaigne’s support will enable more awareness for ways young people can combat stress, anxiety and depression. I’ME supports teens aged 15-19 through running mindfulness meditation retreats,” said Mr Milbourne
“One in four young Australians currently has a mental health condition. Research has shown mindfulness practices increases optimism and happiness and decreases stress, anxiety and depression,” said Mr Milbourne.
“This event will contribute to funding I’ME’s first Tasmanian teen meditation retreat, to be held on the east coast of Tasmania in January 2017,” said Mr Milbourne.
Applications are now open for I’ME’s teen meditation retreat in January 2017.
