CALL WILL BE TO VOTE DOWN PLEBISCITE UNCONDITIONALLY
Advocates will converge on Parliament House next week lobbying members to vote against a plebiscite.
PFLAG national spokesperson, Sharyn Faulkner, long-time marriage equality advocate, Rodney Croome, and just.equal representatives Ivan Hinton-Teoh and Brian Greig, will be speaking to members across all parties with the message that the LGBTI community does not want a plebiscite under any circumstances.
Sharyn Faulkner said,
“Our message will be simple: the LGBTI community doesn’t want a plebiscite under any circumstances and is willing to wait until marriage equality can be achieved through a free vote.”
“The damage a plebiscite will cause and the risk it won’t lead to marriage equality because it is not binding make it the worst possible option for achieving marriage equality.”
Representatives of Rainbow Families will also be in Parliament House lobbying members about the damage plebiscite-related hate campaigns will do to their families.
