CAUTION … 1080 POISON …
Keep your Pets at Home.
A permit has been granted to lay 1080 poison baits between Penguin and Ulverstone, on land fronting onto the Bass Highway.
UPDATE.
This particular 1080-drop will not occur in the immediate future and I hope may not occur at all.
HOWEVER
Current government policy is to make 1080 available, under strict permit, for use on agricultural land. While this is the case, please be VERY vigilant about what your pets eat. If a possum, wallaby or rabbit that has taken 1080 accesses, for instance, a road verge before dying it may be thought to be road kill …. but is deadly to your dog! Both cats and dogs are VERY sensitive to 1080, just licking at a toxic carcass can kill them.
To find out more … and to complain … contact DPIPWE in Ulverstone or Hobart. [or email our Premier [[email protected][ and Minister for DPIPWE, [ [email protected] ]If you think your pet may have had access, contact us, or your own vet, right away for the best advice. 1080 Kills … the sooner we help them, the better chance of success.
