Now blokes don’t be alarmed by the title, read on as some interesting and constructive information awaits. But let’s start with something of a premise … the women’s movement while revolutionary is not following the general rule of the overthrow of a repugnant ruling concept such as a dreadful decadent aristocracy or a malicious bourgeoisie.
Women are not seeking to blow blokes away, it is a simple matter of equality between both genders.
Phewww, you might mutter … but this does mean males need to lose a little for women to gain a little. Wages are a good example here.
Let’s look at current male behaviour … many blokes endorse equality, try to do their bit around the house, look after the kids. Excellent behaviour, but there remains a rearguard of desperate men seeking at all costs to control women. Naively they may well quote Darwin and natural selection and the male dominance in most orders of primates. But one tiny group, the Bonobos are thought to be female-dominated and rather happier than male-dominated primates.
But let’s say it again, in the human species women are only working towards equality.
And yes there are reactionaries on both sides … namely misogynists and those not so often-mentioned misandrists. However the dominant gender, the woman-hating blokes wield a lot more power which leaves the women-hating males in yet again a gender defined inequality!
So what can be done about these recalcitrant blokes? Naming and shaming could be tried. Perhaps a Pauline Hanson-style hatred approach could be taken. Imagine Pauline’s angry face and nasal voice hissing … Men should be banned from coming to Australia, video surveillance should be installed in Men’s Sheds and boardrooms and any other places where males gather!
That awful sort of rhetoric should never be encouraged!
Perhaps shaming could come from an old fashion blue-stocking approach. Women intellectuals in universities while probably paid less than there male counterparts are no less earnestly intellectual.
Perhaps a group debate with united patriot-style misogynists? Imagine their arrival … flags waving, chanting, muscle flexing, as they approach the unflinching female dons. Three-word slogans aping nationalistic misogynist sentiments wouldn’t stand much chance in real debate. Victorious women arise, the adjudicator must say!
While the three-word slogan misogynists are a marginal group, there remains a much more signification number of, well let’s call them the condescending misogynists, Appearing as very ordinary men, no chest hair exposed, no barred teeth or angry flexing muscles, they argue solemnly that technical advance have been carried out for the betterment of womankind.
Those flushing toilets, microwaves, automatic cars and so … Well first of all everyone has benefited, men and women. However the greatest advantage from such changes is of course the Capitalist class. While some of these inventions have truly improved our lives, a great deal of it is crap … stoking the eternal fires of silly consumerism, But don’t blame women for it … point your finger at the endless stupidities of Capitalists and their little mates in the advertising industry!
Well every man has a mother, possibly a sister or a daughter. Every woman has a dad and maybe a brother or a son. Reasonable people together can make the change … equality benefits us all. An earnest attempt to shame the misogynists in a logical debate is simple … and we can all move the revolution towards a harmonious equality.
