For nine years now Rick Brewster has been living in Tasmania and he tells me as we chat ‘it was the only place to go’.
He loves the fact there is so much space for the kids to run around while at the same time he can avoid the ‘run around’ in the traffic so prevalent on the mainland!
Rick Brewster is an agricultural angel. The well -known musician from The Angels began his musical career playing in a band in his free time, while studying an agricultural science degree at Uni. He and his brother John later formed the band with the late Doc Neeson, also from an academic background. After some name changes the group arrived with ‘The Angels’.
Rick wasn’t never going to be a rock guitarist, in fact he started out in classical music playing piano. He came to realise the completely focused dedication that was required to be a professional classical musician was for only a very select few who would reach the highest echelon of a classical career. The discipline of classical music did have advantages though, it gave Rick indirectly the ability to concentrate totally, such as when writing song lyrics.
This year sees the band back on the road with their Hard-Wired tour in which The Angels will play all the favourites including the iconic ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ as well as canvas new songs.
You can see Rick Brewster and The Angles with support act MI-SEX on the HARDWIRED tour at Wrest Point Casino on Saturday 9 July, 2016.
