Tasmanian business and sporting leaders will be educated and inspired at the first MyState Limited ‘Audrey Harrington’ group International Women’s Day breakfast.

The ‘Audrey Harrington’ group is an initiative started by MyState Limited staff with the vision to see the women in the organisation having the opportunity to network with other professional women.

MyState Managing Director Melos Sulicich said the ‘Audrey Harrington’ group gives members the opportunity to share their knowledge with each other in an effort to overcome common objectives.

“While the group is only in its infancy, they meet monthly and invite inspiring guest speakers who can help each of the women who attend the meetings with their various roles within our organisation,” said Mr Sulicich.

“We felt it was important that we created a persona for our women’s leadership group – the group needed personality and an inspirational figure to be the role model for our group.

“Out of this, Audrey Harrington was born.”

The theme for this year’s international women’s day is ‘Pledge for Parity’ with the event set to be a celebration the role female leaders play in business.

Attendees of the breakfast will be asked to pledge to take a step to achieve gender parity – whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference.

Tomorrow’s guest speaker will be Australian swimming royalty, accomplished television host and board member of the Australian anti-doping authority Nichole Livingstone OAM.

Also speaking tomorrow is Alina Thomas, from the community service organisation SHE. SHE, which stands for self, help and empowerment is a community service organisation specilising in providing a quality free professional counseling to all women.
