MyState Limited Managing Director and CEO Melos Sulicich is gearing up to embark on his fifth Tour de Cure, with his goal of raising a career total of $100,000 to help find a cure for cancer.

This year’s tour will see riders travel all the way from Brisbane to Sydney through some of Australia’s most stunning coastline and high-country, kicking off on April 29.

Mr Sulicich will join more than 200 riders in educating students and presenting funding grants to cancer support projects over the 1518km tour route.

Every year riders raise millions for cancer research and awareness, with donations of $10,000 to be given to nine communities and their selected local cancer projects along this year’s journey.

A veteran of the tour, Mr Sulicich’s passion to participate hasn’t wavered despite suffering injuries from spectacular crashes in years past.

In what promises to be a somewhat odd, yet wonderful sight, Mr Sulicich will be stepping up his training for the tour by riding a stationary bike in the MyState offices for 3 hours, as staff enjoy a morning tea tomorrow morning.

Mr Sulicich, who lost his father to cancer in 2011, said he is committed to doing everything he can to assist those suffering from this terrible disease.

“I’ve been training for months and after four tours, I know exactly what is ahead of me,” said Mr Sulicich.

“The tour is always a big effort both physically and mentally, but I know it’s nothing compared to the hardship those suffering from cancer face every day.

“Knowing that my commitment to fundraising may help end someone’s suffering is what drives me up the toughest of climbs, gets me up to train at 5am and brings me back to the tour every year.”

Tour de Cure riders help raise more than $2 million each year which greatly assists those suffering from cancer in Australia.

With one in three cancers preventable through lifestyle decisions, riders use the Tour de Cure to spread educational messages to regional communities who are often forgotten when it comes to health education and funding for cancer projects.
