SOUTHERN CROSS CARE (SCC) CEO, RICHARD SADEK, HAS BEEN MISLEADING IN HIS CLAIMS THAT STAFF HAVE NOT RAISED THEIR CONCERNS WITH HIM, NOR HAVE THEY REQUESTED A MEETING.

HACSU Assistant State Secretary, Robbie Moore, has refuted comments made by SCC CEO, Richard Sadek, that he is not aware of concerns of staff.

HACSU has twice written to Mr Sadek requesting that he meet with staff to discuss their concerns surrounding staffing levels and resident care.

“We wrote to Mr Sadek in November and again in January, requesting that he meet with Delegates working at SCC facilities statewide, to discuss their concerns,” Robbie Moore said.

“Mr Sadek continues to refuse to meet with staff members. These hard working, dedicated people are in the best position to know the effects that unmanageable workloads is having on the quality of care that is provided to residents in SCC facilities across the state. “

“For Mr Sadek to say he is surprised that staff are raising concerns, is appalling. He has received several formal requests to meet with Members from HACSU since November, so how he can be surprised is beyond me.”

“The people who work looking after our elderly relatives and friends are distressed at the decline in quality of care, so much so that the staff themselves have even developed and presented proposals in an attempt to address the issue. These proposals have, apparently, fallen on deaf ears,” Robbie Moore said.
