The long-serving and distinguished chair of TasPorts, Dr Dan Norton, is retiring after 10 years at the helm.
On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I was pleased to congratulate and thank Dr Norton for his service, and announce changes to the Board of TasPorts during a Parliamentary Committee scrutiny of the State-owned company.
Dr Norton continues to be a great servant of Tasmania, being chair at TasNetworks and deputy chair of the Tasmanian Water and Sewerage Corporation, and he remains involved as a director of a number of public and private organisations, including Infrastructure Australia.
I was also pleased to announce that the new chair of TasPorts will be Stephen Bradford, who has had a long and successful career in the field of infrastructure, particularly ports and is a highly valued non-executive director.
Mr Bradford brings the experience of having been the chief executive officer of the Port of Melbourne Corporation between 2004 and 2013, and is currently a director of the Napier Port Corporation and chairman of Cruise Down Under.
Two new directors have also been appointed to the TasPorts Board to replace retiring directors Evan Rolley and Owen Williams, who we thank for their service.
Chartered accountant Tracy Matthews and experienced director Dario Tomat have been appointed to these positions.
A result of the new appointments is that the TasPorts Board will now have three men and two women, which is another step forward in delivering on the Liberal Government’s commitment for greater gender diversity across boards.
