Despite all the Liberals’ tough talk, total crime in Tasmania is actually up 12 per cent.

Shadow Police Minister David Llewellyn said the increase follows a four per cent jump in 2013/14.

“Total crime went up by 12 per cent in 2014/15,” Mr Llewellyn said.

“Firearm related incidents have increased on the three year average, while family violence incidents increased by more than 200 compared to last year.

“The Liberals tough talk on crime has not been borne out in these statistics.

“Labor is proud of its record, with crime decreasing every year between 2005/06 to 2012/13.”
