Tasmanian Irrigation chief executive Chris Oldfield has been instrumental in helping to change the landscape of our state.
Chris has overseen the completion of ten new irrigation schemes as part of the first tranche of irrigation schemes and has been a force in progressing the five proposed Tranche 2 Schemes.
Tasmanian Irrigation has been nation-leading under Chris, delivering a public-private partnership where the Federal and State Governments back famers investing their own money into these schemes.
The model has since been recognised as a successful template for other Australian jurisdictions and overseas.
I would like to thank Chris for his dedication to Tasmania’s agriculture sector, and congratulate him on the appointment as Australian Consul-General and Senior Trade Commissioner in San Francisco. This appointment reflects the high esteem in which Chris is held.
