The Hodgman Liberal Government is totally committed to growing our tourism industry and creating jobs which is why today’s opening of new convict-themed cabins and safari tents on the Tasman Peninsula is so exciting.

Australian Tourist Park Management provides a wide range of services to the caravan park industry in Australia, having successfully operated a vast number of facilities Australia-wide for more than 20 years.

ATPM manage the Port Arthur Holiday Park on behalf of the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority.

This new development offers exciting new accommodation including convict themes cabins and glamping safari tents overlooking the water and also a beautiful new outdoor pizza oven made from convict stone and refurbished camp kitchen to enhance guest experiences.

This exciting initiative, which represented an investment of about $800,000 by ATPM, comes at a time when Tasmania’s tourism industry is going from strength-to-strength directly and indirectly contributing about $2.3 billion or 9.1 per cent to Gross State Product and supporting around 38,000 jobs.

New diverse products such as the convict cabins and glamping safari tents coming online will add quality accommodation and product to the Tasman Peninsula and encourage tourists to stay in the region longer.

With this and other quality products such as Bangor Wine and Oyster Shed, McHenry and Sons’ Three Capes Whisky, Port Arthur Lavender and the recent opening of the Three Capes Track, just to name a few, will ensure visitors to the Peninsula now have a reason to stay longer than one day.

This type of investment will also help the Tasmania Government and tourism industry achieve the shared target of 1.5 million visitors a year by 2020, which will not only increase the economic value of tourism to the state, but will mean an additional 8000 jobs.
