The Hodgman Liberal Government’s number one priority is jobs.

Today’s ABS Regional Labour Force statistics show employment under this Government is growing right across the State.

More people are employed in Tasmania than ever before, and this is particularly true in the North-West, which recorded its highest ever number of jobs.

Total employment on the North-West and West coasts reached 53,900 in the September quarter. That’s an increase of almost 3500 since we took office.

In Launceston and the North-East, unemployment has fallen from 8 per cent in March 2014 to 6.1 per cent now – an increase of 1200 jobs since the election.

These figures show that employment growth is not only limited to Hobart, but is being seen right across Tasmania.

While there is still much work to do, this is a clear sign of growing confidence in the Tasmanian economy, and, importantly, our regional economies.

The Liberal Government will continue to work hard to attract investment, grow the economy and create jobs.
