Cyclists from all over Australia heading to the Snowy Mountains to test their stamina at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa’s ‘Tame the High Country Cycling Weekend’ from 30 October to 1 November 2015.
The road cycling weekend is specifically tailored to suit all levels of fitness so the distance and difficulty of the rides can be adjusted to suit rider’s preferences. It is a great opportunity to scope the course and prepare a training plan for the inaugural L’Etape Australia by Le Tour de France which will be held in December 2016.
Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa General Manager Anthony Cleary said cyclists will ride at their own pace through iconic countryside to challenge themselves to reach their individual cycling goals.
“The resort is well-known as an off-road mountain biking location, but this event gives cycling enthusiasts the feel the burn of the epic climbs and the peaceful Kosciuszko National Park,” said Mr Cleary.
The event kicks off on Friday October 30th with a 40km ride to Lake Jindabyne and a welcome dinner.
On Saturday October 31st, participants can stretch out with some yoga before setting off to ride the highest sealed road in Australia via Jindabyne to Perisher Valley and on to Charlotte Pass. This ride is 110km with some serious climbs. Shorter options are available. Upon their return to the resort, the cyclists will be treated to Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa’s newest dining option; the Spirit of the High Country Dinner and Show.
The final day, Sunday November 1st offers an 80km ride with some tough climbs to Thredbo via the Tom Groggin climb and then a downhill coast back to Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa. Shorter options are available.
