Tahune Airwalk closed for essential maintenance

Posted on

Contrary to the latest misinformation from the Green movement, the Tahune Airwalk is not being closed to facilitate harvesting, it is being closed for essential maintenance work at both Tahune and on the Arve Road which is managed by Forestry Tasmania.

The closure has been specifically timed to take advantage of the Tahune Airwalk’s low visitation period, and will deliver an improved visitor experience once complete. It will also ensure the ongoing safety and usability of Tahune’s walking tracks and of Arve Road.

Forestry Tasmania has advised that they are taking advantage of that closure to safely undertake harvesting in working forests adjacent to the road.

Is the Green movement seriously suggesting that this essential maintenance work shouldn’t be done? Or that the harvesting should take place while the road is open, potentially putting people’s safety at risk?

This is working forest which is part of the Permanent Timber Production Zone and was not nominated by the Green movement for lock-up as part of the job-destroying forest deal.

This is yet another case of the Greens moving the goalposts.
