Deep thinking, Brian! 4

Tired of all that blathering (apt word that) by our less than exalted leaders on television – pollie-speak, aided and abetted by an army of spin doctors? Switch off and go for the alternative: the silver screen, with excellent viewing fare offered by our North Hobart establishment, the State Cinema.M/b>

It has been screening Love And Mercy, the life and times of that intriguing but troubled music man Brian Wilson, of the Beach Boys fame. Which gives me an excuse for offering a fascinating anecdote which I found in a news feature on said Brian in Britain’s Daily Mail in 2006. It goes as follows:

“Lots of stories are whispered about Brian Wilson. Some of them comic; some less so. In the grip of his many mental breakdowns he would regularly insist that business associates attend meetings in the deep end of his Californian swimming pool. His reasoning was that it was impossible to bug a swimming pool and that someone floating half-naked in 12ft of water would be more honest than someone in a suit and tie.”

Deep thinking, Brian! I raise a glass in cheer to you. You gave me Good Libations.
