The Battle of Long Tan

Posted on

You may be aware that next year represents the 50th anniversary of one of the most significant engagements by Australian troops in the Vietnam War – The Battle of Long Tan ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Long_Tan ). For several years I have been following a project lead by Mr Martin Walsh (Red Dune Films), to tell this important national story on the big screen, through a motion picture.

Yesterday I was disappointed to hear that this project has stalled and is at risk of being shelved. See below –

They are creating a film that will rival the likes of Gallipoli, Breaker Morant and Kokoda. They have fallen short of the $17M required by $4M, of which they are offering to pay back. I’m sure you would agree that this Australian legend deserves to be told. The quality of the team they have put together, including Sam Worthington, Director Kriv Stenders (Red Dog), and Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean) is exceptional. This project has huge international potential.
