Riley Creek mine appeal dismissed
Labor Leader Bryan Green has welcomed news that the appeal against the Riley Creek iron ore mine has been dismissed.
The Federal Court dismissed the 2014 appeal against the Venture Minerals project.
“This news is well overdue,” Mr Green said.
“Labor proudly supported this project in government and we were constantly frustrated by third party appeals.
“The delaying tactics of the Save the Tarkine group have prevented this important project going ahead.
“Ideally this project would have started when iron ore prices were higher, which would have seen vital jobs created in the North-West.
“Hopefully with the Australian dollar in a more favourable position the project will be able to forge ahead.”
