Modern, effective pesticide monitoring
The Hodgman Liberal Government is taking a contemporary risk-based approach to pesticide monitoring to create a more effective system for Tasmanians.
This is a sensible improvement and a timely change as the program marks 10 years of operation.
The new program will ensure that we have a more flexible, efficient and effective monitoring and testing model.
The program will better respond to changes in land use, patterns of crop use and to prepare and respond in areas of identified possible risk.
It astounds me that anyone would argue that it is an efficient use of public funds to continue to routinely monitor waterways that are consistently free of pesticides.
This new monitoring and testing program will provide a contemporary and more efficient monitoring and testing regime for Tasmanians that’s is in line with national approaches.
