Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon said today’s unemployment figures shine a light on the Liberal State Government’s dubious jobs promises.
“The State Liberal Government’s record on jobs is firmly under the spotlight,” Mr Bacon said.
“The Government’s promise that the budget will create 8000 jobs has already been shattered during Estimates hearings this week.
“Tasmanians are absolutely right to be skeptical of Treasurer Peter Gutwein’s claim that every job to be created will be as a direct result of his jobs package.
“Today’s unemployment numbers are very concerning and the figures speak for themselves.
“700 jobs have been lost in a single month, with 3200 jobs lost in the year to date.
“This is the fifth consecutive month of rising unemployment which is deeply concerning.”
