The 2015 Colony 47 Winter Appeal is being launched tonight at an event hosted by the RACT and supported by the TCCI, business leaders, politicians and individuals who want to make a difference in their community.

Colony 47 CEO Therese Taylor said that last financial year Colony 47 supported over 3000 families into sustainable, affordable housing.

“Colony 47 relies on fundraising to provide vital support to families experiencing homelessness; from crisis kits, pantry starter packs and house warming supplies to our financial counselling program which helps our clients manage the increased cost of living during the harsh winter months,” said Ms Taylor.

RACT CEO Harvey Lennon said his organisation is proud to be supporting Colony 47 and urging other local businesses to give back to their community.

“With the Winter Festival season on our doorstep it is important to remember that homelessness can happen to anyone, so now is a terrific time for the business community to get involved and assist Tasmanians in need,” said Mr Lennon.

This year, Colony 47 is reaching out to the community to help raise much needed funds for the Colony 47 Winter Appeal.

Colony 47 aims to raise $50,000 to establish a fund that provides basic provisions to rebuild the homes and lives of families experiencing housing crisis.
