Government working to grow momentum in retail
Today’s ABS retail figures show a healthy increase that points to growing confidence in the economy and the benefits of having more people in work in Tasmania. Retail trade grew by 0.4 per cent in March with total growth over the past 12 months an impressive four per cent.
But there is more that the Hodgman Liberal Government can do.
That’s why the budget includes $315 million for a job creation package and a record spend of $1.8 billion on infrastructure. We know that the best way to help the retail sector is to create jobs and make sure more Tasmanians have money in their pocket and that’s what this budget will deliver.
We are rolling out programs that will directly help the retail sector, like our Buy Local campaign and our Local Benefits Test that is helping more Tasmanian businesses win Government tenders.
