The Liberal Government must make sure the Caterpillar Transition Taskforce is able to operate in an open and transparent manner.

Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon said criticisms of the process were concerning.

“The North-West Coast community and the Taskforce itself need to have confidence in the process,” Mr Bacon said.

“Workers and community members are being kept in the dark about the important work of the Taskforce.

“It’s disappointing that members of the Taskforce have been gagged by the Government when it comes to discussing their work.

“The Government is willing to go to Thailand to see where jobs have gone but wasn’t prepared to go to the US to fight for them.”
