Dawkins supports Hawks – have the Greens finally seen the light?
Today in Parliament newly appointed Bass Green MHA Andrea Dawkins said she supported the Tasmanian Government’s sponsorship deal with the Hawks.
This welcome statement has come after years of opposition to the Hawks’ deal by her fellow Greens.
We enjoy an outstanding relationship with Hawthorn and the Hawks have been fantastic ambassadors for this State – it is sad that it has only taken the Greens 14 years to see the brown and gold light.
I call on Denison Green MHA Cassy O’Connor to confirm if this is her party’s new position on AFL in Tasmania, or if it is just the comments of a rookie MP.
A confirmation from Ms O’Connor of a change of Greens’ policy in favour of the Hawks would finally mean tri-partite support for the Hawks’ deal and would send an important signal as negotiations commence on a new deal.
