Bunnings expansion creating jobs
The opening of the Glenorchy Bunnings Warehouse today is another step forward in the jobs-creating expansion of Australia’s largest household hardware chain.
The $43 million warehouse at Glenorchy will create 80 new positions and secure the jobs of 100 workers transferring from the old Moonah store.
Bunnings will further invest in Tasmania over coming years, in a major show of confidence in our economy and workforce.
The $77 million investment over two years will create three more warehouses creating more than 300 jobs once completed, and 550 jobs during the construction phase.
The expansion includes warehouses in Kingston, Devonport and Mornington, which adds to four existing warehouses, a store and a trade centre.
This is a major investment from one of Australia’s most recognised brands, and a significant sign that Bunnings is here to stay after 16 years since being established in Tasmania.
Investments like this will help to ensure our economy continues to build on the momentum gained in the past year.
