Privitisation of assets and services on Liberals’ agenda
Premier Will Hodgman has confirmed that privitisation of more Government assets and services is on the way.
“Mr Hodgman today welcomed unsolicited bids from the private sector to takeover public services,” Mr Green said.
“This is effectively an open invitation to the private sector to undercut the jobs of people providing Government services in a whole range of areas across Tasmania.
“Does this mean for example the jobs of school cleaners or allied health workers will be on the chopping block?
“For Mr Hodgman to promote unsolicited bids for Government services is simply code for further privatisation.
“It is an extremely worrying sign for workers and is creating a high level of uncertainty.
“The Liberals are now putting Tasmanian forest assets up for sale and it was revealed yesterday they want to privatise the Transport System Group.
“We have seen Liberal governments in the past sell the Queen Alex and Mersey Hospitals and they have even tried to flog off the Hydro.
“A leopard never changes its spots.
“Mr Hodgman is refusing to come clean on what other services he is willing to hand over if more unsolicited bids come from the private sector.”
