North West job cuts a cruel blow for forestry workers
Labor Leader Bryan Green said today he was shocked forestry workers on the North-West Coast are the first on the Liberal Government’s hit list to be sacked at Forestry Tasmania.
“This is another cruel blow for the North West,” Mr Green said.
“The Government has done nothing to help secure jobs at Caterpillar and is now sacking forestry workers with absolutely no remorse or any support.”
“It is a devastating blow to forestry workers and their families who were led to believe their jobs would be safe under the Liberal Government.
“These workers have been betrayed by the Liberals.
“They have been deceived and lied to by a Government elected on false promises.
“The reality of just how this Government operates is sinking in.
“The Liberals are pushing hard and without proper consultation with workers or unions to get rid of these people as quickly as possible.
“The Liberals are unashamedly washing their hands of the jobs of people in the forest industry around Tasmania.”
