Labor’s budget credibility crisis: How will Labor pay for policies?
It has now been nearly 14 months since the election and Labor hasn’t released a single policy.
And while it’s refreshing for Bryan Green to now finally talk about finally releasing some policies, unless he outlines exactly how much they will cost and how Labor would pay for them, his promises will have no credibility.
Promising the world without outlining how to deliver is not an alternative, it shows Mr Green and Labor are too lazy to do the hard work.
As for Mr Green’s claim that it’s impossible to do an alternative budget without the resources of Treasury, this just proves how lazy Labor is.
From 2009-10 to 2013/14 the Liberals in opposition delivered five consecutive alternative budgets, demonstrating our fiscal responsibility.
In 2011, Lara Giddings said: “the Liberal Opposition must release an alternative budget if they are to have any financial credibility” and that an Opposition “…simply cannot claim to have any economic or financial credibility if they refuse to release an Alternative Budget”.
For once, I couldn’t agree more with Ms Giddings.
