International Nurses Day

Posted on

Held on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, International Nurses Day celebrates the incredible contribution nurses across all fields make to a healthier and safer society.
Florence Nightingale defined the true nurse calling as “the good of the sick first.”

International Nurses Day is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the tremendous work nurses in Tasmania do every day, and the important role they play in building a better health system for everyone.

I was fortunate to be able to attend an International Nurses Day afternoon tea with nurses at the Royal Hobart Hospital to pass on my thanks for the work that they do.

It is almost impossible to overstate the importance of our highly skilled nurses in our hospitals and health services, the aged and community care sector, and in the community generally.

On behalf of all Tasmanians I congratulate and thank all of our nurses for their fantastic work over the past year.
Michael Ferguson, Minister for Health
