Greens split looming

Posted on

There appears to be a massive split looming in the Tasmanian Greens following Nick McKim’s announcement that he will contest Christine Milne’s soon to be vacant Senate seat.

Greens’ Leader Kim Booth has been uncharacteristically media shy over the past week, failing to appear before the media to discuss first the Government’s energy strategy last week, and then yesterday, Forestry Tasmania.

It appears the reason for this is because Mr Booth is refusing to support Mr McKim’s Senate push, instead supporting the “dark green” candidate, Vanessa Bleyer.

It’s been apparent for a long time that all is not well inside the Greens and Mr Booth’s refusal to support Mr McKim only confirms it.
