Global brand specialist to head Winemaking Tasmania
A highly credentialed wine industry brand manager is to become the new General Manager of Winemaking Tasmania, the state’s leading contract wine maker and cider producer.
Jonathan Lord, who previously held the position of Senior Brand Manager for Clare Valley wine producer Taylors Wines, will take up his new appointment on May 25, which is preparatory to the retirement in July next year of Julian Alcorso, the company’s founding manager and chief wine maker.
At Taylors Wines Mr Lord managed the marketing of the company’s export brands across global markets.
The Chairman of Winemaking Tasmania, John Young, said Mr Lord would bring a level of expertise to Winemaking Tasmania which would greatly benefit the company’s client grape growers from around the state as well as those clients who were not growers themselves.
“Jonathan’s proven skills in brand development, positioning and marketing will be of major benefit to our clients as well as the state’s wine industry generally, as Tasmania seeks to maximise its growing reputation as a premium wine region,” Mr Young said.
In addition to his time with Taylors Wines, Mr Lord spend five years as Global Brand Development Manager for Southcorp Wines, where he was responsible for new products and packaging development in the company’s UK and European markets. He also managed the global brand development of new products for both Penfolds and Wynns.
Mr Lord has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney.
