Employment figures
The Hodgman Liberal Government’s number one priority is jobs.
Today’s revised figures are disappointing, however there is a clear trend showing that since the election jobs are being created, the economy is growing and the State is heading in the right direction.
It’s worth noting that of the over 4,000 new jobs that have been created since March last year, three quarters of them have been full time jobs.
While there is clearly significant statistical volatility in the monthly employment figures, retail trade is at record highs, our building and construction sector remains strong and business confidence is the highest in the country, and the Government is optimistic that we will see continued improvement into the future.
We’ve always said it’s early days and there’s lot more to be done, which is why the upcoming budget will be all about capitalising on the gains we have made, and building on the momentum.
