Congratulations Christine Milne
Christine Milne has been a tireless advocate for the environment, starting from her fantastic campaign work to stop the toxic Wesley Vale pulp mill proposal in northern Tasmania.
She has taken that community advocacy work to the forefront of politics in Tasmania, Australia and the world.
She was instrumental in the creation and expansion of the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage Area, and her work with the ALP to deliver the Clean Energy Package made Australia a world leader in combating climate change.
She leaves the Greens party in an incredibly strong position nationwide, with Greens members now stretching their influence to the lower houses of parliaments around Australia.
The Wilderness Society acknowledges Christine’s fine work and contribution to the protection of the environment and wishes her the very best for the future.
