Building on the momentum in Tourism
Tourism is booming and it is one of our state’s greatest competitive strengths.
Over the past year tourism has set record after record, attracting more visitors than ever before, breaking the billion dollar spend by holiday makers and winning an unprecedented 10 national awards for excellence.
We have already injected an additional $4 million a year into marketing, to make sure the world knows why Tasmania should be at the top of their must-see list.
The upcoming State Budget will be all about building on the momentum across our state, and tourism is no exception.
I can confirm that the upcoming State Budget will include an additional multi-million dollar funding injection for tourism marketing and industry development.
This will further help us achieve our commitment to attract 1.5 million visitors to our state every year by 2020, which the industry tells us will create an additional 8,000 jobs.
