Building approvals through the roof
Since the election, building approvals in Tasmania have gone through the roof, helping to create jobs, drive investment and grow the economy.
More Tasmanians than ever before are now realising the dream of a new job, a new home and a new start under the Hodgman Liberal Government.
In March alone building approvals were up 3.3 per cent, which makes Tasmania the second best performing state. Approvals are up nearly 30 per cent compared to this time last year.
The Government is supporting the building and construction sector through our First Home Builder Boost, by fixing the planning system and introducing a headworks holiday that has slashed the cost of investing. Our plan is all about driving investment and development because it creates jobs and will make the economy stronger.
These figures are the latest in a string of positive indicators. Retail trade is at record highs, business confidence is the highest in the nation and around 6,000 new jobs have been created since March last year.
